If you were to come up with a tagline for your watch brand, “Master of Complications” would be a good choice. Founded in 1991 by case and gemstone experts Vartan Sirmakes and… you guessed it… Franck Muller, the brand is responsible for some of the most visually exciting and technically impressive mens replica watches on the market. In fact, Franck Muller holds the title of “World’s Most Complicated Watch” with its Aeternitas Mega, which features no fewer than 36 complications and over 1,000 parts. However, at 42mm wide, 61mm long and 19.15mm thick, you really do need arms like Popeye to wear it. Thankfully, though, the Franck Muller collection has plenty of styles to suit those of us with slimmer limbs.
Franck Muller’s Crazy Times The watch industry is more conservative than most, and for many in the industry, tradition always trumps change. Not so for Franck Muller, who in 2003 launched what is perhaps their most iconic replica luxury watches, the Crazy Hours. The dial features a jumping hour mechanism that displays numbers in a seemingly random chaos, with the hour hand jumping precisely from one number to the next every 60 minutes while keeping precise time.
Anyone who has worn a watch with a twenty-four-hour dial, such as the Breitling Astronaut, knows how tricky it is to recalibrate the part of your brain responsible for keeping time. At least initially, it requires more conscious effort than with a traditional timepiece. I haven’t been lucky enough to spend any extended time wearing a Crazy Hours-style watch, but I can only imagine it’s the best thing since Sudoku to keep your brain in tip-top shape.
A unique approach to watches In 2004, a year after launching the Crazy Hours complication, Franck Muller created another world first – a tri-axial tourbillon. Unlike a traditional tourbillon, which can only cancel out the effects of gravity in a vertical position, this tri-axial version corrects for those forces in all positions. If that wasn’t enough, the swiss replica watches, called the Revolution 3, was later further developed to include a perpetual calendar, the Evolution 3.1.
While we won’t be seeing these super-complications at our next luxury watch auction, we do have three more watches from the Genevan manufacture up for grabs. Like the Crazy Colour Dreams watch above, the other two lots feature the iconic case style that Franck Muller has used since 1987. Named the Cintrée Curvex, this aesthetic offers a refreshing alternative to the round or rectangular cases commonly seen in 99% of watches. These three-dimensional tonneau-shaped designs have since become part of the brand’s DNA, making them instantly recognisable in a sea of cookie-cutter timepieces.
Franck Muller’s “Master Banker and King of Conquerors” This is the most complicated Franck Muller watch currently available, featuring a traditional time display with date, as well as two additional time zone indicators. This watch, which debuted in 1996 and was called the Master Banker (before we hated them), also features an 18ct yellow gold case and alligator strap. Jacob & Co Astronomia Casino
If you’re like me and prefer bracelets to leather straps, don’t worry, you have options there too. The heaviest of the four watches is the stainless steel Conquistador King, which is 38mm wide. A traditional three-hand watch with a date window at 6.
A Pink Rendition by Franck Muller If the Pink Panther needed to get somewhere on time, he’d likely wear this. Not only does it complement his complexion perfectly, but it’s also likely to be the most accurate, as it’s the only model from the four batches to use a quartz movement. Housed in an 18ct white gold rectangular case, this Long Island model is distinctive both aesthetically and mechanically. Yet, judging by the familiar Arabic numerals often seen in the catalogue, it’s unmistakably Franck Muller. replica Patek Philippe Cubitus
Franck Muller, now primarily owned by co-founder and CEO Vartan Sirmakes, is a company as colorful as its watches. While Franck Muller himself is no longer involved, he was a rock star among watchmakers in his prime. As a friend of Elton John, he supplied watches to many celebrities and became something of a celebrity himself. The company’s headquarters, “Watchland”, has a reputation as being like a Playboy mansion, and it seems that some of the pitfalls of this lifestyle may have taken their toll. The company’s 32-year history to date has included major friction between owners, controversy over the use of cheap Russian movements, dishonesty, deception and even an eight-day bankruptcy. replica Zenith Chronomaster Sport
