Maze, the winner of the women's downhill, finished in two minutes 36.87 seconds, ahead of Anna Fenninger of Austria.

"I knew it wouldn't be easy in GS. We had two weeks of sun and I knew it couldn't hold on. Even though it's not perfect weather it was perfect racing."


Vanakorn, Thailand's first ever female skier at the Olympics, was joyful despite timing 3:26.97 for two runs.


Twenty-two skiers failed to complete two runs.


"I expected to be last but at the end of the day the Olympics is a great opportunity," said Vanakorn after her first run.


"I nearly crashed three times Sergio Rodriguez 76ers Jersey , but I made it down and that was the main thing. Just the experience of being here is amazing. I was worried I was going to get lost (on the course), but I just about managed it."
