KABUL Derrick Henry Hat , Feb. 7 (Xinhua) -- Two bomb blasts allegedly organized by Taliban militants killed two civilians and injured eight others in northern Saripul and eastern Logar provinces, while security forces killed four militants during operations on Sunday, officials said.
In the latest violent incident which happened in Saripul city, capital of northern Saripul province Sunday afternoon, two civilians were killed, deputy to provincial council Sayed Assadullah Daneshi said.
""A bomb went off in Saripul city at around 3:00 p.m. local time today killing two civilians Jonnu Smith Hat ,"" Daneshi told Xinhua.
The official, however, didn't provide more details.
Meanwhile, an official on condition of anonymity confirmed that the blast occurred next to the branch of a local Azizi Bank inflicting casualties.
In a similar incident, a roadside bomb struck a government bus carrying provincial judges in the eastern province of Logar, injuring eight people Corey Davis Hat , a local official said.
""The blast took place along a road in provincial capital of Pul-e-Alam in the morning rush hour wounding eight persons,"" a provincial security official told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
However, he added that the bus was carrying provincial court staff to their offices when the blast happened.
Those injured in the blast include the head of provincial court department, three local judges and four civilian passers-by, he said.
Government forces have killed four Taliban fighters including two local commanders in the eastern Wardak and the northern Baghlan provinces during operations against militants on Sunday, security officials said.
Taliban militants Rashaan Evans Hat , according to local officials, have intensified activities amid peace efforts to bring the armed outfit and Afghan government to the negotiating table.
The third round of the four-nation talks which including Afghanistan, Pakistan, China and United States was concluded in Islamabad on Saturday with agreeing on preparation of a roadmap towards peace talks and the fourth round of the talks is scheduled for February 23 in Kabul.
Afghan government is hopeful that direct talks with Taliban will be held by the end of the current month. Enditem
